Last month, I went to Key West. It is a small island in Florida. The weather was hot, but the sky was blue. I stayed there for three days. On the second day, I went to a grocery store in Key West. I want to tell you about my experience.

The grocery store was not big. But it had many things. It was near my hotel, so I walked there. The name of the store was "Island Market." When I walked in, it was cool inside. The air conditioner was working well. I felt happy because it was hot outside.

When I entered, I saw fruits and vegetables first. The apples looked red and fresh. The bananas were yellow. Some were green. There were also oranges, grapes, and mangoes. I took one apple and two bananas. I also took a small bag of grapes. I like sweet fruits.

Then I walked to the next aisle. There were snacks. I saw chips, cookies, and candy. I took a small bag of potato chips. I also took chocolate cookies. I like to eat snacks at night. They make me feel happy.

After that, I saw drinks. There was water, soda, and juice. I took one bottle of water and one orange juice. I did not take soda because it is not healthy. I try to drink healthy drinks now.

Next, I went to the dairy section. I saw milk, yogurt, and cheese. I don’t like cheese very much, but I love yogurt. I took two cups of strawberry yogurt. The price was okay. Not cheap, but not too expensive.

Then, I walked to the frozen food area. There were pizzas, ice cream, and frozen vegetables. I love ice cream, so I took a small cup of vanilla ice cream. I did not take pizza. It was too big for me.

After that, I looked at some canned food. I saw beans, soup, and tuna. I did not buy any. I don’t like canned food much. I prefer fresh food.

I also walked past the bakery section. It smelled good. I saw bread, cakes, and muffins. I took one small muffin. It had chocolate chips inside. It looked very tasty.

There were also some souvenirs in the store. Key West is a tourist place, so many stores sell souvenirs. I saw magnets, t-shirts, and postcards. I did not buy any souvenirs from this store. I wanted to look at other shops later.

At the end, I went to the cashier. There was no line. The cashier was a young man. He said, “Hi, how are you?” I said, “I’m good, thank you.” He scanned all my items. The total was $23.45. I paid with my card. He gave me the receipt. I said thank you. He said, “Have a nice day.” I smiled and left.

I walked back to my hotel. It was still hot, but I had water and fruits now. When I reached the hotel, I put the food in the mini-fridge. I ate the muffin. It was very soft and sweet. I felt happy.

I like grocery stores in the U.S. They are clean. The items are in order. The prices are written clearly. Most workers are friendly. I feel comfortable shopping there.

Key West is a small place, but it has what people need. The grocery store had many things. I did not buy meat or fish, but I saw them in the store too. Maybe next time, I will cook in a small kitchen.

For now, I was happy with what I bought. Simple food. Healthy snacks. A little bit of sweet treats. It was a nice experience. I like to visit grocery stores when I travel. I learn about what people eat in other places. I see new brands and new snacks.
