Hi! My name is Riko. I am learning English. I want to write about three stores. They are in different cities. One is in Los Angeles. One is in London. One is in Lafayette. I went to them last year. It was fun.

Store One: Los Angeles, California

Los Angeles is very big. There are many cars and people. The store I went to is called Sunset Skate Shop. It is for people who like skateboarding. I do not skate, but I like the shirts and shoes.

The store had many skateboards on the wall. Some had cool art. One had a shark. Another had fire. There were shoes too—Vans and Nike. I saw a red cap with a small logo. I tried it on. I looked funny. I laughed.

The people in the store were young. They talked fast. One guy asked me, “Do you skate?” I said, “No, but I want to learn.” He said, “That’s cool, man.” He gave me a sticker for free. The sticker said “Skate or Cry.”

I did not buy a skateboard. It was too much money. But I got a black T-shirt. It had the shop name on it. It cost $25.

Store Two: London, United Kingdom

London is very different. It is cold and quiet. The buildings are old. I liked it a lot. I went to a store called Rainy Days Records. It sells vinyl records. It was raining when I walked in—good name for the store!

The shop was small. It smelled like old paper and coffee. There was soft music playing. A jazz song. I did not know the name, but it was nice.

There were many old records. Some were from the 1970s. I saw The Beatles, Queen, and David Bowie. I picked one record because the cover was pretty. It had a yellow sun and a tree. I bought it. It cost £12. The man at the counter said, “Nice choice, mate.”

I stayed in the store for one hour. I looked at all the album covers. Some were funny. Some were sad. The man gave me tea. I said thank you.

Store Three: Lafayette, Louisiana

Lafayette is warm. The air smells like food and flowers. I liked the feeling. The store I visited is called Cajun Corner. It sells food and music and souvenirs.

When I walked in, I heard loud music. It was Cajun music. I saw people dancing near the door. They were smiling. A woman gave me a free sample of hot sauce. It was so spicy! I almost cried. She laughed.

Inside the store, there were many jars of things—jams, spices, and pickles. There were also shirts and hats. One hat said, “Laissez les bons temps rouler!” It means “Let the good times roll!” I bought that hat. It cost $15.

I also bought a jar of gumbo mix. I want to cook gumbo at home. The lady at the register said, “Add shrimp, and you’ll love it.” I said okay!

The people in the store were friendly. They talked to me even though I was new. That made me happy.

What I Think

I liked visiting these three stores. They are not the same, but all were interesting.

In Los Angeles, the store was cool and fun.
In London, the store was quiet and smart.
In Lafayette, the store was happy and warm.

I saw many things. I met kind people. I learned some new words. I took pictures. Maybe I will write about them next time.
